MASAKI OKUMURA, Photograph, Paris
Masaki Okumura is a photographer fond of design and decoration. And it is in a design agency that he began to work in France. With his dual culture franco-japonese in which graphism, picture and calligraphy have a central place, Masaki Okumura quickly took up to photography while pursuing his studies.
His work presents two aspects which reflect his personality, he is interested in the technic as well as in the esthetic of the object, but also in the person who created it, the hand handling the tool.
His still lifes show a great mastery owing to his global perception of the object as a support of création, but they are also a technic achievement. The very precise light adjustments give his photos a great realism enhancing his subjects.
His sensibility to atmospheres and encounters enables him to make portraits traducing his empathy for the artisans he meets and to show his fondness for the working climates of their workshops. A way for Masaki Okumura to unfold a more subjective aspect of his work and render the intensity of the artisan at work.
Of his collaboration with the Artisans Créateurs whom he makes prtraits, he likes particularly the opportunity to discover the human being behind the object : “It is an object that tells a story, an imprint. To show the imprint of the person on the work …”
